We aim to provide for the Barbadian public a mix of high quality Mental Health Services, with special emphasis on community-based education, prevention, and treatment of mental illness, in order to reduce the need for institutionalized care.

SERVICES AVAILABLE

Mental Health Services are accessible from the Psychiatric Hospital, Black Rock, St. Michael, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Martindale’s Road, St. Michael, the Polyclinics, Private Psychiatrists and Health Centres, strategically located throughout the island.

In keeping with our philosophy “Good Mental Health – the Key to Healthy Living”, our thrust is committed to the goal of excellence in patient care geared towards creating an awareness of mental health issues, providing public education and the delivery of quality health care which is accessible and affordable to the people of Barbados.

Our mandate is to create a client-family-oriented health service in an environment where clients and families are empowered to participate in discussions about their health.

Services are delivered by a multi-disciplinary team who manage the services and address health issues of primary, secondary, and tertiary nature.  Some services are delivered from the facilities, while others are delivered from the homes, business places and organizations within the communities.  These services will vary according to the needs of the client and community.
